Meet Peter Oyen

Peter Oyen’s story is one of passion, hard work, and continuous reinvention. Born and raised in a small town, Peter eventually moved to the bustling city of Madison, Wisconsin, to pursue a career in Graphic Design and Visual Communications. After graduating from MATC, Peter decided to explore the vibrant lifestyle Madison had to offer before launching his professional career.

His first job was with Kavanaugh Restaurant Supply, a family-owned business where he sold bar and restaurant supplies. This role allowed him to interact with owners, managers, and staff from some of Madison’s finest establishments, giving him a unique insight into the restaurant industry. This experience led to several bartending opportunities in the city, where Peter honed his customer service skills and developed an appreciation for the hospitality sector.

Peter’s career took a significant leap when he joined Xerox, one of the largest printing companies in the world. For over 11 years, he managed the GE Healthcare account, working with top-notch professionals in the healthcare industry. His time at Xerox instilled in him a strong work ethic, with many long hours and weekend shifts dedicated to putting the customer first. Despite the rewarding environment, the stress of the job eventually led Peter to seek new challenges. He left Xerox on good terms, confident and ready for the next phase of his career.

His next stop was JT Packard (now Thomas & Betts) in Verona, WI, where he once again thrived in a dynamic and demanding work environment. During this time, Peter’s entrepreneurial spirit began to take shape. Jessica Laufenberg, founder of SBR Coaching and a close colleague, was expanding her business to include bicycle retail and bike fitting. Peter’s extensive background in sales and his passion for cycling made him the perfect partner for the venture. After two years of balancing his work at JT Packard with Jessica’s business, Peter made the bold decision to start his own bicycle shop, Rocket Bicycle Studio.

In 2024, Peter took yet another leap, transitioning into the world of content creation. He began writing an informative blog focused on personal product analysis and first-hand usage reviews.
